Are you an avid cyclist who loves Google Maps? Google has decided to return some of that love by launching biking directions on Google Maps for mobile. This feature was already available on the desktop version, so if you’ve used it before, you should be fairly familiar with it. That being said, it’ll be a lot nicer now that you can get it on your Android-powered phone while on the road, isn’t it? You’ll be getting biking directions, lanes and trails directly on your phone, just in time for National Bike Month. If you want to take a more scenic route, you can even take note of the Bicycling layer on the map, showing the difference between dedicated bike-only trails, roads with bike lanes or even roads that are good for biking but lack a dedicated lane. Are you planning to take this new feature for a spin on your next bike ride? Bear in mind, you’ll need a device that’s running Android 1.6 or higher.
