HTC Desire And Smart Reach O2 UK

Looks like Vodafone UK isn’t the only carrier who is offering some pretty cool phones, as UK wireless carrier O2 has also announced that it has added the HTC Desire and HTC Smart phones to its lineup. The HTC Desire is more or less a Nexus One without the Google branding, as it offers the same 3.7-inch AMOLED display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The HTC Smart is a pretty-looking entry-level Qualcomm BREW smartphone that offers a 2.8-inch touch screen display, powered by a 528MHz processor. Are you looking to get one of these phones? AMOLED: stands for Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode, is a display technology in which an electro-luminescent organic compound (organic=contains Carbon) is used to light up pixels. Active Matrix refers to a technique to control the pixels and sub-pixels (RGB components) state which was introduced in the mid-70s. Active Matrix is used with many kinds of displays, but the most famous are TFT LCD and AMOLED.

Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. HTC: High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC) is a Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones and tablets. The company started as an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) that was building devices for others, but went on making HTC-branded smartphones based mostly on Microsoft's Windows operating system (OS) for mobile. In 2009, it began to shift its core focus away from Windows mobile devices to Android-based ones. In 2010 the company went back to the Windows Phone eco-system.
