Solid-state drives are becoming more and more popular nowadays, and Intel apparently has some big plans for SSDs this holiday season. Come the fourth quarter Intel is planning to introduce drives that offer capacities larger than what is currently offered. The chip giant is busy working on the more efficient 25nm MLC NAND flash memory, which can offer capacities such as 160GB, 300GB and 600GB, which should more or less replace the company’s existing 34nm X25-M range. Intel should also be coming up with a high capacity 1.8-inch version that is capable of hitting the 300GB mark as well. Are you looking forward to the day where laptop hard drives will be completely replaced by SSDs?
