iPad takes wings as inflight entertainment system

The Apple iPad has just found another use – it can now work as an inflight entertainment ssytem, thanks to Bluebox who has just announced such a system. This system ought to hit the market this July, where it will comprise of an iPad device that comes pre-loaded with content alongside a variety of apps that are pre-selected by the airlines themselves. Needless to say, access to the App Store is disabled, and it will cost you around $10 for rental per flight. We think that the standard iPad Wi-Fi (read our review) will see action here since there is no need for 3G connectivity while you’re up in the air, and it will help lower the cost of ownership for airlines as well. It would be interesting to see how airlines will solve the battery life issue since the iPad will need to be sent back to Apple once the battery dies off. Apart from that, will all passengers be nice and not attempt to jailbreak or hack into the iPad?
