Word is going around that Samsung might be considering entering the mobile ad scene. Details aren’t abundant at the moment, but the company could be planning to put ads through its phones and TVs once it has completed its own application store for its platforms. The Korean giant will either have to start its own ad company, or perhaps buy an online ad network. Such a move would be somewhat akin to what Apple is doing with iAd, though they wouldn’t be directly challenging each other as iAd is exclusive to devices running the iPhone OS. Of course, if such a move does materialize, it would give many companies out there an incentive to support Samsung devices if it could help them with their advertising. Considering the size of Samsung’s mobile, TV and home electronics business, this might actually be a pretty interesting move.
