There are some pet lovers out there who tend to go overboard in loving their pets, especially when they set up a video monitoring system so that they can check on them from work remotely thanks to an Internet connection. Guess this obsession is better than wasting productivity hours via Facebook, but it still cheats the employer of a few minutes per day. The Mimamori Z001 from Japan is a cycloptic remote camera that pans 35 degrees left and right, heading 40 degrees up and 5 degrees down to boot. It captures stills in VGA quality (640 x 480 resolution) and video in 176 x 144 resolution where the latter is clearly unacceptable in this day and age. Just so you know this isn’t a relic from the late 1990s, it can be remotely triggered by a text message to snap a MMS photo or record whenever it detects any movement. No idea on pricing, but expect it to hit Japan sometime this December. Perhaps it might be a cool tool to catch your lover in an unsuspecting tryst when you’re not around?
