The Samsung Galaxy S, an Android-powered smartphone that is touted to boast the fastest GPU in its class, is now available for pre-order from Amazon Germany. Folks living Stateside are still waiting for it despite it being approved by the FCC already, which means those living in Germany are most probably the second country after the UK to get hold of the Galaxy S in Europe. The Galaxy S sports a 1GHz ARM chipset based on the Hummingbird design which is touted to be superior in most aspects to a similarly clocked Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm. Other hardware specifications include a 4.1″ Super AMOLED touchscreen display and a 720p HD ready camera. Folks living Stateside who can’t wait can always import one from Germany, although the product listing on Amazon does not show which 3G/HSPA frequencies are supported, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work with higher speed mobile broadband from AT&T or T-Mobile USA.
