Samsung i5500 could be first Corby with Android 2.1

It seems that the Samsung i5500 could very well be the first Corby handset from the South Korean manufacturer that runs on the Android 2.1 operating system. Basically, we’ve more or less lost track of the number of Corby handsets that there are out there, but so far none of them sport the Android platform. The Samsung GT-i5500 which was recently approved by the Wi-Fi alliance, will reportedly come with GPS support, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity, a built-in touchscreen display, and a photo camera. It has already been approved by the FCC, but there aren’t any proper photos released just yet so we’ll just have to make do with a sketch of the handset’s case. Do look forward to an official announcement in the coming weeks.
