Samsung Moment and HTC Hero to get Android 2.1 updates in Q2

Sprint has just announced that they will be making available the Android 2.1 update for the Samsung Moment and HTC Hero sometime in Q2 this year, and here’s what they have to say about it.

We wanted to let you know that Sprint continues to work closely with Samsung and HTC to deliver the highly anticipated Android 2.1 upgrade for Samsung Moment and HTC Hero. We are on track for the upgrade to be available in Q2. Sprint had hoped to have this resolved by now – we thank our customers for their patience as we work to bring them a positive experience with this upgrade.

With Q2 about to end in a short while, we guess the wait that is a little longer shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.

Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. HTC: High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC) is a Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones and tablets. The company started as an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) that was building devices for others, but went on making HTC-branded smartphones based mostly on Microsoft's Windows operating system (OS) for mobile. In 2009, it began to shift its core focus away from Windows mobile devices to Android-based ones. In 2010 the company went back to the Windows Phone eco-system.

Sprint: Sprint is one of the major wireless carriers in the USA. It uses a mix of CDMA, WiMax and LTE Networks as the backbone of its infrastructure. The company's network is also used by third parties and mobile virtual operators like Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, and Assurance Wireless. Sprint has about 55M subscribers.
