The Solar Vehicle Project team over at the University of Minnesota has unveiled its latest solar-powered car that will be participating in the 2010 American Solar Challenge, an 1100 mile race from Tulsa to Chicago. It’s dubbed the Centaurus 2. Looking very much like a UFO, the most notable change from the university’s previous eight solar vehicles is its improved aerodynamics and solar array encapsulation to maximize the speed and range of the vehicle. The car measures in at just over 3 feet tall and is about 16 feet long and 6 feet wide, weighing about 400 pounds.
