Verizon looks towards five 4G phones by May 2011

Verizon’s CEO Lowell McAdam recently stated at the Reuters Global Technology Summit that the company could very well have up to five 4G smartphones on its network by the time May 2011 rolls around. While he did not name said devices, all it takes is some smart deduction to come up with the high probability of these handsets hailing from HTC, LG, Motorola, Samsung and Research in Motion (RIM). Were there any other candidates worthy in the first place anyways? Apart from that, it is interesting to note that some of those manufacturers mentioned are also working on tablets for Verizon Wireless, where they will be powered by the Android OS.
