Whisky turned to watts at Scotch distillery

The next time you get ready to take a swig of whisky, we hope that you will think about this post concerning the creation of renewable energy from whisky. An independently-owned Scottish distillery is currently working on an installation of a new biogas generator that aims to solve their energy problems. This anaerobic digester is one that should be able to transform whisky waste into electricity, and in the process, meet around 80% of its electricity needs and save the company up to £120,000 ($175,000) annually. Basically, the waste product is left over water once all alcohol has been stripped out, and instead of being powered down a pipeline into the sewers, why not use proven technology and generate biogas with it instead? No prizes for guessing which drink I’m gonna order on the rocks the next time I hit the local watering hole.
