YouTube gets more than two billion hits each day

YouTube is huge – just how huge? Well, it has nearly double the number of people who tune into the US’s trio of prime time TV stations combined, and that figure tops the 2,000,000,000 mark. We’re talking about two billion here, just in case you got confused with all the zeroes – and this coming as the site celebrates its fifth anniversary, coming a long way since then. To get an idea of its growth, just seven months ago saw the video site clock up one billion downloads. Of course, the amount of time spent on YouTube is grossly inferior to those who watch TV, 15 minutes vs 5 hours on average, but how many folks channel surf YouTube compared to the TV? Despite the figures mentioned, one connundrum still remains – how is Google going to monetize YouTube?
