Amazon Announces Video And Audio Support For Kindle iOS App

Is Amazon making things harder for its own Kindle eBook reader? The online retailing giant has just announced that it has introduced audio and video support into the Kindle program, though the only way to experience the new Kindle multimedia books is on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. With the new Kindle multimedia books, users will be able to enjoy music or narration of digital editions of these books, allowing them to take a break from reading, but continue to enjoy the story. Considering that Apple’s iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch are already very capable media devices, the inclusion of video support does seem quite logical. The question is, of course, how this will affect Amazon’s own Kindle eBook reader, as it does seem to be pushing users in the direction of Apple’s media devices.
