Apple patent points toward HD Radio receiver

Apple has recently filed a patent that points toward the inclusion of a HD Radio receiver that could very well see action in future handheld devices from the fruity company, letting them scan and search through live radio content without having to flip through multiple channels before landing on something that they like. This new patent application will see the trademarked wireless radio format owned by iBiquity enable both AM and FM radio stations to simulcast digital and analog audio within the same channel. Basically, you future iPod or iPhone could very well embrace HD Radio technology, leaving you with more entertainment options than ever before. After all, with HD Radio being one of Microsoft’s main selling points for their Zune HD, Apple might just hit back with this patent application.
