Google’s Android is generally used on ARM-based processors, but we do know that Intel has had an interest in bringing Google’s popular mobile OS to x86 processors. There are already such projects, such as the independent Androidx86 project, out there, but we’re really looking forward to seeing what Intel’s involvement will mean for the OS. Word is going around the Intel could be planning to release an x86 compatible version of Android 2.2 to developers this summer, though it’ll be interesting to see if such a move would affect Google’s upcoming Chrome OS, which will certainly be targeting the netbook sector. Would you want to see Android running on x86 devices?
