Iomega Skin Drives Launched

It is really hard to differentiate oneself from competitors in the USB external drive business, especially if you don’t want to play the “thin margins” game. Iomega has chosen to add value in terms of design because it is well-known that portable electronics can be quite a strong social statement (and folks are ready to pay for that!). Three Iomega Skin Drives have just been announced: The “Radical” Skin drive, which has a retro design. The “Red Hot” Skin which as its name indicates… is very red. And finally, the “Knock Out” Skin which is black and silver. All are self-powered drives that connect to USB 2.0.

What do you think? Are “design” hard drives cool or would you rather have something else personalized?
