Mozilla went about quietly releasing their Firefox 4 candidate build, where it looked pretty solid when running, without causing any surprises to those who were using Firefox 3.7 before this. There are no detailed release notes available as at press time, although there doesn’t seem to have any major changes from Firefox 3.7a6-pre save for a smoother execution with less occurences of crashes. Currently, some of the main issues which remain include rendering problems in the menu bar on Windows Vista, where the menu bar is virtually unreadable if you are running dark windows in the background behind Firefox. Firefox 4.0 candidate build supports HTML 5, so it is well geared for the future although its JavaScript performance still leaves a whole lot to be desired. Just be extra cautious if you plan to download it, as you never know what kind of bugs it comes with.
