News Corp Purchases Skiff E-reader

Looks like the folks over at News Corp decided that they could use their own e-reader, as it has announced the purchase of the 3G-connected Skiff e-reader from Hearst and also invested in Journalism Online. The Skiff platform is touted as specializing in delivering visually appealing layouts for newspaper and magazine content, along with high-resolution graphics, rich typography and dynamic updates. In case you missed it the last time, the Skiff is an 11.5-inch 1200 x 1600 pixel resolution e-reader that focuses on displaying magazines in their native format, and sports 3G data access courtesy of Sprint. Do you think such a move would worry Apple and its iPad?
