With the iPhone 4 inching closer to being released, rumors of a non-AT&T iPhone have surfaced again, and this time a Kaufman Bros. analyst has backed the increasing talk of a second iPhone carrier in the US. Surprisingly, while most of the iPhone rumors have surrounded a CDMA version of the iPhone, the latest rumor is that the iPhone could be heading to T-Mobile. The theory is that Apple’s device already supports one of the two necessary 3G frequencies, the 2,100MHz band, so it’s not that drastic a change. As it is, any carrier should be quite happy to embrace the additional subscribers that an iPhone would bring, though the question is still whether Apple would want to come up with an iPhone for T-Mobile when Verizon has roughly 93 million subscribers, possibly making it a much more attractive deal. Do you think a T-Mobile iPhone is on its way?
