Ubuntu Netbook Edition For ARM Shown On Video

The folks over at Canonical have been busy coming up with a version of Ubuntu that’s optimized to run on ARM-based mini-laptops, and it should be released this July. The release has even gotten an official name: Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.7. A video has surfaced, showcasing a mini-laptop designed by Pegatron, powered by a Freescale i.MX51 processor running the new version of Ubuntu that we just mentioned. One of the main differences between the ARM version and the version built for x86 processors apparently is that Ubuntu 10.7′s program launcher doesn’t need 3D hardware drivers since it’s designed with 2D graphics.
