AQUA2 is the result of the work of some PhD candidates, where this water-friendly robot was specially built to explore the deep – as long as it does not go any deeper than 120 feet. It does not have absolute freedom though since it is tethered to a remote via fiber optic or Ethernet wire. Don’t be fooled by its boxy design, as the AQUA2′s half dozen spinning flippers make it extremely agile regardless of whether it is in or out of the water. Some of the very practical stunts that the AQUA2 can pull off include hovering underwater, which could very well enalbe it to hold a flashlight steady while you are busy looting some long lost but recently discovered pirate gold.
