Everquest II: Extended can be played for free

Sony Online Entertainment has decided that Everquest II: Extended can be played for free by adding a new subscription option to Everquest II. Thanks to its Extended Membership Plans, players can choose from four tiers of options for their desired gameplay experience. Currently available to all players in Alpha testing mode, the open Beta will happen on or around August 17, 2010. This might just be the opening that non-Everquest gamers have been looking for, as it might just get you hooked (remember how the game was called Evercrack all those years ago?). As a Bronze (free) member, you will gain access to the Everquest II: The Shadow Odyssey which is a base game, featuring five expansion packs as well as three adventure packs to keep you occupied, in addition to a quartet of playable races, eight playable classes, and a maximum level of 80 (the cap stands at 90 for paying members). Anyone willing to give it a go?
