NTT DoCoMo president Ryuji Yamada recently hinted that both Nintendo and Sony could very well be toying about the idea of including 3G data connectivity to their portable gaming systems, namely the DS range and the PSP. Yamada did confirm that “various players” were talking about adding cellular access, but there was no confirmation on whether it is made possible through an internal connection or via a 3G-to-Wi-Fi router, similar to Novatel’s MiFi. If this were to happen, we’re pretty sure both Nintendo and Sony would be waiting to include it in their respective next generation of platforms since the current hardware layout has gotten old.
