In a recent interview with Fortune, HP’s Jon Rubinstein, formerly the CEO of Palm, has mentioned that webOS 2.0 is on track to arrive later this year, which is great news for webOS fans, though considering that we’re already in July, it doesn’t give HP too much wiggle room for delays, so hopefully everything will go according to plan. Features of the new mobile OS weren’t mentioned, but we are looking forward to it.
On a related note, HP Personal Systems Group VP, Todd Bradley, mentioned that the upcoming Windows 7 Slate will be marketed to the business segment, while the tablets that are powered by webOS will be focused on the consumer market instead. This will probably come as slightly disappointing news to consumers who were looking forward to a Windows 7 Slate from HP, but maybe other manufacturers will come up with their own cool Windows 7 tablet device.
