Don’t you just love shootouts between two giants? Well, the same applies to JavaScript performance between Apple’s iOS4 and Google’s Android 2.2 update, where some tests were run by the folks over at Ars Technica, and boy were the results something amazing. Both SunSpider and V8 benchmarks trend almost thrice faster than in the previous version of the platform where JavaScript execution in Froyo’s Web browser is concerned. When compared to Apple’s mobile Safari browser on the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4 fared around 33% slower on V8 and has around half the performance on Android 2.2 where SunSpider is concerned. Looks as though mobile Safari is no longer the fastest mobile browser in the market.
