Looks like Verizon is really gearing up for its upcoming 4G LTE network that will be able to reach real-world speeds of 5-12Mbps, which is significantly higher than the 3-6Mbps of Sprint’s WiMAX. If everything goes according to plan, the new network will be available on modems first, after which it’ll filter down to smartphones, and also tablet devices. We say so a pictures of a Verizon SIM card showing a 4G logo from Verizon sur faced, giving us hope that we’ll see 4G networks sooner rather than later. The downside is that carriers are looking to 4G networks as an excuse to switch to tiered data plans, which might add up to some expensive monthly charges, though hopefully we’ll be able to consider it as fair trade for faster speed and better range.
