Lenovo Working On An Android-powered LePad Tablet

Lenovo has confirmed that it’s currently developing a touch-only Android-powered tablet, dubbed the LePad. Details are still quite sketchy, but it should be available by the end of 2010, and while it isn’t clear whether Lenovo will be offering it outside of China, but speculation is that Lenovo might focus on getting some good sales figures for the LePad in China, before offering it overseas. While its still unclear as to what specifications the LePad will have, but its possible that it could share similar specifications of the company’s IdeaPad U1 (pictured above), which sports a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and a 10-inch multi-touch display. Let’s see if Lenovo’s LePad will be able to give the iPad a good run for its money when it’s released.

From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. Although Android is not a community-driven project, Google does release the source code as open-source under the Apache license
