Magellan Introduces Its Rugged eXplorist GPS Devices

Magellan has just introduced three new eXplorist GPS devices for outdoor enthusiasts, which are the eXplorist 710, 610, and 510. These devices sport a 3.2-megapixel camera that is capable of capturing geotagged photos or videos, and is good for navigating outdoor destinations around the world, recording audio messaging using the microphone, and sports a 3-inch color touchscreen. They’re also IPX-7 certified for being waterproof in up to 3.3 feet of water for a good 30 minutes. You’ll get the World Edition map preloaded that contains the full road network of the US, Canada, Western Europe, and Australia.

The 710 differentiates itself by getting the Magellan’s Summit Series topographic map and its City Series turn-by-turn maps for navigation in urban areas. The 610 sports a three-axis electronic compass and barometric altimeter to help get an accurate orientation and elevation, not to mention it allows for tracking weather patterns. All three devices will be shipping in the fall, and the 510, 610, and 710 will be priced at $350, $450, and $550 respectively.
