MSI GT660R arrives in the US

MSI’s GT660R is a 16″ gaming laptop which has finally arrived in the US, and it boasts some pretty mean specifications such as an Intel Core i7-740QM quad-core 1.73GHz processor, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX285M 1GB graphics card, 6GB DDR3 RAM, a whopping 1TB of hard drive space thanks to the use of dual hard drives as well as a Blu-ray combo drive. You get a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels spread across 16″ of visual goodness, while a 720p webcam lets you hold high definition video calls when the situation calls for it. Connectivity-wise, the GT660 does not fall short, featuring 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, a couple of USB 2.0 and a similar number of USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA/USB combo port, ExpressCard slot, 4-in-1 card reader, VGA and HDMI outputs. With LED lights adorning the laptop’s edges, you can be sure this will turn on the style wherever you go. Too bad the 9-cell battery offers up to 3 hours of run time, which isn’t much by today’s standards but pretty OK for a gaming laptop. Pricing starts from$1,699.99 upwards. While this would make a decent desktop replacement machine for gamers, you might want to consider not roaming too far away from a power outlet whenever you travel.
