Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra family to render local media storage obsolete

Netgear with their latest ReadyNAS Ultra family of network storage systems could very well usher in the death of local media storage, where you can choose form 2-Bay, 4-Bay and 6-Bay network storage systems. This is perfect for power users who want to achieve unprecedented freedom where their digital entertainment content is concerned, being the first-ever storage with media-shifting capabilities that allow users to centralize media on a ReadyNAS, while users are able to consume it in any networked location and on any networked device. Boasting double the speed of legacy ReadyNAS systems, the Ultra family seems to hold plenty of promise. Other features include it being the first TiVo compatible DVR network storage systems, letting you store HD programming content onto any TiVo box at a later date without the need for additional software or computers. Perfect for those who are finding managing so much local media storage data a hassle, especially if you have plenty of computers at home. The Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 4 will retail for $599.99 sans disks, while the 2 x 2TB model will cost $899.99. As for the diskless Ultra 6, it will retail for $899.99 and $1349.99 in a 3 x 2TB configuration. Shipping commences from the middle of this month onwards.
