Camcorders are not exactly the lightest devices in the world, especially when you compare them to digital cameras, but Panasonic intends to break new ground with its Panasonic HDC-SDX1 which is touted to be the lightest Full HD camcorder in the world at time of publishing. Thanks to its ultra-compact body, the SDX1 will tip the scales at around 0.41 lbs, carrying a 35.8mm wide-angle lens, 23x Intelligent Zoom and boasting the ability to function as a Web camera as well, thanks to its support for Internet video calls. Mac owners need not fret since the SDX1 also supports the Apple iFrame video format, letting you upload video clips to YouTube or Facebook without requiring to launch a browser in the process, making it easy enough even for the computer illiterate person to use it. Other features include a HYBRID Optical Image Stabilization system (O.I.S.), an Intelligent Auto (iA) mode, AF/AE Tracking, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Detection and Intelligent Contrast Control. Its 2.7″ LCD display is also touchscreen sensitive to keep up with the times. Too bad it comes only in black color this September, retailing for $499.95. [Press Release]
