Could it be true, that there is actually an app for everything? Seems to be the case with Raytheon grabbing headlines yet again by offering its own iPhone app that is capable of controlling its Patriot anti-missile system. Known as Patriot Crew Drill, this is a multiple-choice game that was specially designed as a refresher tool for missile troops. Laypeople won’t be able to get their hands on this app since it is not available on Apple’s App Store, but will instead be used to keep Patriot troops who are assigned to other duties to remain up to speed on the working and mechanics of the system. Raytheon also has plans to introduce more iPhone-based military apps – just make sure the iPhone 4 is not used since a soldier during duress in battle might just hold it the wrong way and waste precious seconds on dropped calls.
