RIM offers Blackberry Protect

BlackBerry Protect has just been announced on an official basis after a few months’ worth of rumor mongering going around the Internet. This new service allows customers who are not attached to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server to obtain protection for their important information on a lost BlackBerry smartphone, where one is able to wipe out data remotely or even lock said device from the comfort of your desktop, although you might feel rather distraught with the loss of your phone. Apart from that, you can remotely add contact information to the home screen of a locked BlackBerry smartphone in order for it to be returned if found (good luck!). If you think your misplaced BlackBerry is nearby, you are also able to remotely activate a loud ringer – now that will definitely give the culprit a shock!
