Safari Browser's AutoFill Security Exploit Can Expose Your Personal Information

With the competition amongst browsers quite tough nowadays, this latest bit of bad news isn’t going to have Safari fans smiling. A security researcher is urging users of Apple’s Safari browser to turn off the browser’s AutoFill feature in order to prevent hackers from stealing sensitive information. When exploited, a malicious website would be able to extract personal information such as their first name, last name, work place, and email address etc. This is because the AutoFill pulls data from the user’s personal record in the local operating system address book, and thus can be exploited even if the user has never entered any personal information on the site before. Sounds pretty disturbing, especially if you’re concerned about privacy, so you might want to check out the AutoFill feature on your Safari browser until this issue is sorted out.
