It has been a long time in coming, but the folks at Sprint have finally introduced the Motorola i1 in the US. This is the first Android-powered smartphone in the world, where it will be an official handset that is available to the masses Stateside come July 25th. The Motorola i1 is no wuss, featuring military grade specifications as well as push-to-talk capability to keep you connected even in the roughest of circumstances – barring a bad signal, of course. It is rather unfortunate that the i1 will ship with Android 1.5, making us wonder what the folks at Sprint are actually thinking about by doing so. Other features of the Motorola i1 include Android Market support (we wonder just how many of those new apps will run on Android 1.5), integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as a host of applications such as Scan2PDF Mobile 2.0, Unit Converter – ConvertPad and RealCalc Scientific Calculator. You gotta pony up $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and agreeing to a two-year contract if you want to pocket this tough puppy.
