The HTC Droid Eris might have already been discontinued, but it’s good to see that HTC and Verizon are still pushing out firmware updates to the device, as a recent leak shows that the device is slated to receive an update around July 16th-17th. Sadly the update doesn’t bump the firmware to Google’s latest Android 2.2, but it does offer some useful improvements. In case you don’t get the update instantly on said date, it’s worth noting that it might take up to a week for the over-the-air update to hit your device, so be patient. Improvements in the firmware update include:
- Improved audio
- Enhanced speed dial
- Improved text, video, and picture messaging functionality
- Contact sync with Backup Assistant, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and Facebook
- Enhanced and stabilized weather app and widget
- Bluetooth pairing support for Jabra headsets
- Improved Gmail contact sync
