Apple might not offer an OS X tablet at the moment, but there is some good news that Axon Logic has begun to take pre-orders for its Haptic tablet, which is apparently designed to be suitable for hackintosh Mac OS X installations. The company itself officially warns against installing OS X, due to licensing restrictions, but the tablet is said to be specifically designed for compatibility with any Darwin-based operating system such as Apple’s Snow Leopard and some earlier versions of OS X. It’ll set you back $750, and you’ll need to purchase your own operating system such as Windows or OS X, and the company offers accessories such as a CDMA 3G card, USB Bluetooth dongle, Bluetooth GPS receiver and some others. Specifications of the Haptic tablet include:
- 10-inch 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen display
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU
- 2GB RAM
- 3,000mAh battery
- USB ports
- 3G SIM slot
- 320GB hard drive
- Webcam
- VGA port
- Ethernet
- Built-in speaker
