FuelCell Energy Inc. has come across another method to extract electrical power from, of all things, chicken droppings. Yes sir, the company recently managed to sell one of its 1.4-megawatt fuel-cell power plants which is able to convert chicken manure into usable energy. This power plant is tipped to enter operational status sometime in the middle of next year onwards, where the anaerobic digester will be able to process chicken droppings via methane gas generated as a waste by-product. Apart from chickens, we would like to see variants of such power plants crop up in the future that use different kinds of animal manure.
