Takeshi Maeda, the brain behind the line of OmniZero robots, has come up with his latest ROBO-ONE competitor that has yet to be named. This comical robot will feature a hand painted head, but according to Maeda-san, he does have concerns about its 9.9kg (22 lb) weight so lighter materials might see action in the next iteration. This robot will come with several IR distance sensors located all over the place including its hands, allowing it to “attack” semi-autonomously whenever it detects an opponent within range – all done with a smile on its face. While additional weight on its hands will add up in the final blow, balance could be an issue to contend with. Gyro sensors on both feet and timing belts on the legs complete this robot as it stabilizes itself.
