Google reportedly snaps up Jambool for $75 million

Word has it that Google has purchased Jambool for as much as $75 million, where its main intention for doing so would probably be Jambool’s virtual currency payments product – Social Gold. San Francisco-based Jambool was founded in 2006 by Amazon.com veterans Vikas Gupta and Reza Hussein, and when it rolled out Social Gold as an online payments and virtual currency platform last October, it was a success, since it enabled players to integrate into their free-to-play MMOs, virtual worlds, casual online games, and social games/applications without much hassle. Could such acquisitions be due to Google working on their own rumored social network, hence getting all the other parts of the proverbial chess board in place?
