The iControlPad has been seen a few times in the past, and it is now in its final production form with an initial run of 3,000 units ready to hit the market. There is still no word on pricing, but sales will apparently begin from next month onwards, featuring a couple of sidebar pieces that will wrap themselves around the iPhone or iPod touch, not to mention the additional control buttons located on the bottom. It will also provide more juice for your iDevice thanks to a built-in battery which is touted to double “the iPhone battery life for gaming.” Shoulder buttons on the back will add to a more authentic handheld console gaming experience, but it remains to be seen whether there will be future games complex enough to require the use of such a gaming set up on an iDevice.
