Aside from the latest rumors of an Android-powered PlayStation phone, it has also been discovered that Sony might be planning to use Google’s Android OS for its eBook readers. According to a job listing that was discovered in LinkedIn, the company is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer focused on Android who would be able to create application software for digital readers and other consumer electronic devices. The post has since been removed, so Sony either wanted to keep it a secret, or it managed to fill the position already. Considering that Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple have been making some serious waves in the eBook reader scene recently, Sony’s eBook readers will need a serious boost in order to compete in the increasingly cutthroat eBook reader market, and let’s see if Google’s Android OS might be the solution.
