Marvell and Harman to deliver built-in Wi-Fi connectivity for automakers

Automakers will soon be able to deliver yet another integrated Wi-Fi solution for their people movers thanks to collaboration between Marvell and Harman, thanks to the award-winning Marvell Mobile Hotspot (MMH) technology. The first car to offerthis particularfactory-installed mobile hotspot would be the 2010 Audi A8 which is now available across the pond. This is made possible thanks to a built-in WLAN module in the A8, delivering high speed online and internet access through a cellular link or Bluetooth connected mobile devices. It is able to support up to eight different devices, which is more than enough since you won’t be able to squeeze in that many people comfortably (or legally). If you’re going to do plenty of hardcore surfing on your netbook while you’re in a car, we would suggest getting a model with a Solid State Disk since there are no hard drive heads to worry about, plunging into your disk platter when accessing data.
