Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac Gets Priced Competitively

With beta invitations having been sent out recently for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, Microsoft has just announced now the pricing of its Office suite that will be compatible with Apple’s OS X operating system. Microsoft’s pricing for Office 2011 for Mac will be aggressive with all packages seeing price cuts from their 2008 MSRPs.

Office for Mac Home and Office for Mac Student editions for 2011 will feature Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft’s instant messaging app for OS X. Business edition will include Outlook for Mac, which will replace Entourage, as the communications hub that will feature email, calendar, and contacts integration. Expected to debut in October, Microsoft is said to be slashing prices as much as 50% to bring pricing in line with the Windows version of the popular software suite.

Student edition will retail for $119 for a single license and $149 for a family license. Office for Mac Home and Business will retail for $199, with a family license for $279. An academic version will also be made available for those who are enrolled or employed at an academic institution; it will be made available for $99.

Those who purchase Office 2008 for Mac after today will be able to upgrade to the 2011 edition at no extra cost.
