Mosaid Technologies has rolled out a SSD prototype that relies on its HyperLink NAND (HLNAND) architecture and interface to keep data moving at a frantic pace. The HLNAND SSD prototype was specially optimized for mass storage applications which include enterprise data centers and high-performance computing environments, hitting 213MB.s read performance and 130MB/s write performance – get this, all on a single channel of HLNAND flash memory. When you compare it to current second-generation SSDs, those require at least eight or more channels in order to achieve a similar performance level. Now that’s something, we just await news on an official release with pricing details for the mass consumer market.
