Motorola A1680 is first Android-powered Ming phone

The Motorola A1680 holds the distinction of being the first Android-powered phone from the Ming series, where it will retain the classic clamshell form factor associated with the Ming family, complete with a transparent flip that doubles up as a screen protector. You might find the 3.1″ WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display rather small in comparison to other Android smartphones to date (4″ and above), while Android 1.6 isn’t exactly the most rockin’ version of Android. No loss for those living Stateside though since this will be heading towards China at the moment. Other hardware specifications include 3G and Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi support, GPS navigation, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a 624MHz processor and a microSD memory card slot. Since it is heading towards China, it makes perfect sense to have handwriting recognition and a stylus. There is no word on pricing as at press time.
