
Samsung seems to be pretty serious in storage market, as the Korean company has just announced its 3.5-inch EcoGreen desktop hard drive, the F4EG, that offers a whopping 2TB of capacity using just three platters, which translates to 667GB per platter that Samsung dubs is the world’s highest density, and environmentally friendly hard drive on the market. The F4EG is a 3Gbps SATA hard drive that offers a 32MB buffer and offers 19 percent improved standby performance and uses 23 percent less power in standby mode that its previous generation EcoGreen F3EG. It’s priced at $120, and will be available in the US and Europe in early September.
