
Looks like the rumors were on to something, as Sprint has just announced the Samsung Epic 4G, which will be launched on August 31st for $249.99 after a $150 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate. The device is more or less a Galaxy S that has a sliding QWERTY keyboard thrown in, albeit with some differences here and there. The Epic 4G will be available for pre-order from August 13th, and customers will be able to pick up the device from Sprint stores on August 31st. Technical specifications of the Epic 4G include:
- Samsung 1GHz processor
- 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive display
- 3G/4G wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot support for up to 5 devices
- Android 2.1 (with 2.2 FroYo on the way)
- Bluetooth 2.1
- GPS
- microSD card expansion
- 1GB ROM and 512MB of RAM
- 1,500mAh battery
- 5-megapixel camera
