US Army gunnery target drone modded to be flying Wi-Fi sniffer

The old school method of driving around with notebooks turned on an Wi-Fi connectivity enabled is no longer in vogue, as a couple of hackers has upped the ante by quite a mile using a modified US Army gunnery target drone that transforms it into a flying Wi-Fi sniffer which cannot be stopped by even the tallest fence. “Mike” and “Rich”, aka Rabbit Hole, recently presented their masterpiece at the Defcon 18 hacker’s convention in Las Vegas. Dubbed as the WASP (Wi-Fi Aerial Surveillance Platform), it will be guided by an open source auto pilot, where it will also carry a slew of equipment that will help it sniff out Wi-Fi networks. Whenever a signal is detected, it will switch into a holding pattern over the network, while making sure the signals are relayed back to the WASP’s operators on the ground using Wi-Fi, RF, or 3G connections. Makes you wonder whether living in a no-fly zone is now an advantage to consider, eh?
